What does your mom and dad do?

Happy Friday everyone! We started our morning continuing our World Map painting. We finished painting the ocean with blue paint yesterday and today we were going to color in the continents. On our wall, we had a real world map and we carefully took a look at the continents. We noticed we could use green paint for most of the places, but some places had different colors. The places up at the top used white and some parts of the continent had orange or yellow. After we told our teachers what color paint we needed we got straight to work! After our painting activity, we joined Evita at the play area. We used the little houses we crafted and put them on a big road! We also used the duplo blocks to build other buildings and towers. We each got one car and we drove around our city!

We packed away our toys and A helped Nimo sing our good morning song and our Daddy’s day song! We also used a world map to sing the 7 Continents song.

E: I see penguins (Antarctica).

Y: What’s this? (Africa)

While we were focused on the world map Nimo continued our activity from yesterday where we stuck our family photos on where our moms and dads were from!

A was the first one.

A: I don’t know where my mommy is from.

Nimo: The same country as L’s mom and dad.

L: Korea, here!

R knew exactly where he needed to stick the pictures.

R: My dad is from this part of North America and my mommy is down here, Argentina.

J also knew where his parents were from.

J: My daddy is from Canada. Up here. My mommy is from Tokyo.

H stuck his picture on the map and A did as well.

Y was the last one for the day.

Y: Daddy, Japan? I don’t know where my mommy is from.

Nimo: The same country as Eddie.

E: China!

It was really cool to see how our moms and dads are from all over the world! After our activity we sat down and read our story for the day, “Where There’s Smoke” by Robin Lovell and David Miller. It was a story about Firefighters trying to help Bodie’s house from a big bushfire!

T: T like firetruck!

J: Firefighters check anywhere is fine and put water out.

A: I have a friend named B at the park.

M: I don’t like fire.

R: That’s smoke!

We saw lots of jobs in the book. Police officers, pilots, firefighters, and construction workers. When we finished the book Nimo showed us a few job cards.

Nimo: This job is called a teacher. Who is your teacher?

J: … Nimo? Sayaka? Evita?

Nimo: What job do you think your mommy and daddy do?

J: My mommy and daddy are working, they are talking and I watch TV. I think they are talking about people. They also do all the things like, cook, eat, lunch, sleep…

M: My daddy read the book. He read a Japanese book too.

Sayaka: Does daddy work in an office or does he work in home?

M: Daddy work in home.

A: I don’t know… My dad is just dad and mommy is just mommy.

R: I don’ know what my dad does. I think he’s a mail person. My mommy is teaching, she teaching exercising.

Y: My daddy is a mail person! Mommy is a Yoga teacher.

L: My daddy do, peek-a-boo. Mommy yoga.

E: I don’t know…

H: *Pointed at Police officer*

T: Daddy police officer and mommy mail person.

Nimo: When you go home today ask your mom and dad what job they do!

We ate our snacks then had fun playing on the slides at step park! Thank you all for another fabulous week! Enjoy your weekend and we will see you again on Monday!

Love,

Petals
