What is this giant egg ?

Happy Friday everyone!

We hope our buds families and friends have all had a great week!

To start the day, on the front activity table we had new yellow egg colored clay set out for us to enjoy! I and B cooked up a delicious breakfast for their friends. YUM! We also made pretend Tsukimi odango! On the back activity table, there were many kitchen toys set about. M and A worked together cooking yummy vegetables for everyone. So healthy! L, A and M all used legos to build a zoo for animals to play in the free play area. Nice teamwork!

Once we cleaned up and sat down for circle time, after singing our good morning song, Brandon challenged everyone to make their own egg from the new yellow clay! We rolled the clay in our hands and practiced balancing it on our legs, feet and hands. N demonstrated his balancing skill by sitting his clay egg on top of his head! Super cool!

As a reward for everyone using fingers and hands to form clay eggs and to continue on our theme of the week : flying animals, we got to see a giant egg and discovered it was a real ostrich egg! L and I were so impressed by the size of the egg that they kept repeating “so big!”. Everyone had a chance to come up, feel and listen for sounds from inside the ostrich egg!  I was even saying “shhh baby sleeping” while pointing at the egg!

We also read the story “Lucy Goosey”, about a little goose that was scared to fly but was finally encouraged by her mother. When the story was over, it was time for a snack and then off to the park! After we arrived at the park, T showed everyone his leg strength by kicking the yellow ball very high in the air while L and B showed everyone how good they were at balancing themselves while sitting on a ball!

Thank you for today, we wish everyone a safe and restful weekend!

Love,

Buds class
