Animal Finger Puppets

Wonderful Wednesday!

Once again we started our morning being super busy with crafts and activities! On one of our tables, we had the cardboard box we painted yesterday and continued adding some more colors to it! Free painting is always so much fun! On our other art table, some of our friends finished making their dolls and began working on their little pipe cleaner animals! Today E, Y, and R got a chance to do their animals. E wanted to make a bird so she chose a colorful green and orange pipe cleaner for the body and a pink head, “Like a flamingo!”. She added two eyes and a blue beak. Then she pointed at the feather collage material and added some feathers for the wing of the parrot! Y wanted to make a crocodile so he chose both green for the body and the head. Then Y got a pretty little green feather to add on the top of the crocodile's head. To make the finger puppet look more like a crocodile, he use an orange pipe cleaner and folded it in a zigzag pattern, and used it as the big mouth with sharp teeth! R wanted to make a gorilla. He chose a purple pipe cleaner and a red pom pom for the head. After he added eyes on the gorilla he thought for a little bit about how he could make it look more like a gorilla. He showed his teacher his strong arms and thumped his chest! R got another purple pipe cleaner and cut it in half. He stuck one on each side as the arms!

While we waited for all of our friends to get ready for the park Nimo read us a short story called, "At Work" by Ellen Geist. It was a book about animals and how they work. Once everyone was ready we hurried over to the park. Our park time today was fabulous, there was no one else but Petals and Buds and it was so cool all day! We had a great time running around and zipping down the huge slide! We also practiced climbing by going up the rocky side of the large slide, or the rock climbing wall on the blue slide. Some of us enjoyed drawing pictures in the sand and observing the hard-working ants. As much as we wanted to stay at the park for the rest of the day, we had more things to do back at school! We marched on back and quickly started our circle time!

As usual, we started our circle time with some songs! We sang, ABC, Twinkle Twinkle, Good Morning, How Are You, and London Bridge. We also welcomed our brand new friends from Buds Class! His name is R and he just started in Petals today! From the very beginning of the day, Rigel seemed very comfortable in Petals and enjoyed all the activities we did today. He already memorized some of our names! After we welcomed our new friend, we read, “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” By Bill Martin Jr and Eric Carle. As we read the book, our teachers asked us what colors the animals were and what sounds they made. When we finished the book, the teachers made two groups for our Puppet Show and Tell. Group one will present today, and group two will talk about their animals tomorrow! How exciting!

I: Mine! Cat! Blue cat. Ears and whiskers here. Meow!

Y: It’s a crocodile! This is the big mouth. It’s green. It says… mmmmmmm.

R: Gorilla, red and purple! It do... *Thumped his chest like a gorilla*

E: Yellow parrot. And orange, purple, and white. Squawk!

E: I make birdie. Pink and green, it has wings!

Everyone did a fantastic job doing their show and tell and their friends also did an amazing job showing respect and listening nicely! We are very excited for our second show and tell tomorrow!

Thank you all for another Wonderful Wednesday! Hope you all have a great evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
