Recalling Memories in Buds
Designing Bags
We continued working on designing bags for our Year End Party gifts. Each day, new ideas and thoughts are shared and our teachers encourage us to draw it. By doing so, we get to work on both our fine motor and verbal communication skills.
J drew sticks in various colors. He said those sticks were numbers and that each color represented a set of tens.
B drew spirals in different sizes to decorate his bags.
L enjoyed matching pens and caps according to its colors.
A seemed to enjoyed witnessing how ink would come out of the marker when she uses it
M enjoyed scribbling and learning how to wait for her turn in using certain colors of markers
Imaginative Play using Connecting Disks, Toy Figures, Trains, Lego Blocks and Letters
Even though it's the same toys, we always come up with different ways to play and use it as a means to strengthen skills that open up opportunities for us to become role models.
I and R were able to bond together by doing parallel play using the toy figures. Both of them each had their own toy figure. R took a pot as something that he could relate to the chef toy figurine that he had and was “explaining” to Isa through gestures and sounds.
E used the scattered connecting disks and toy figurines that were laid out on the table as an obstacle course for his train to drive around with
J used the trains to help comfort B. When B found it challenging to connect rail tracks, J came in to guide and help him out. J also used the trains to bond with D.
G and S both built tall towers using the translucent Lego blocks. They worked on exploring the concepts of stability in structures
Circle Time
As the school year is about to come to an end, we start to look back on what we have discussed this term through the theme “Transporting Around the World”. We look back at the different modes of transportation that were shared with us by some of our parents. We remember “Dr. Yellow” from Japan, the rickshaw from India, the “tuktuk” from Thailand, the sleds from Canada, the trams from Hong Kong, the bicycles from Amsterdam, and the red double deck bus from the United Kingdom.
Using Hervé Tullet’s book “Imagine”, we look back at the seasons that we have gone through together as Buds Class. We also shared our ideas on where famous landmarks such as The Statue of Liberty (in Odaiba), a pagoda temple, and the Eiffel Tower (like Tokyo Tower) can be seen here in Tokyo.
The story of “The Rainbow Fish” by Marcus Pfister was also remembered… especially the scene where the Rainbow Fish came across the Dark Octopus.
It was a Circle Time recalling our fondest learning memories.
Outdoor Play
For Outdoor Play, we practiced our kicking and hitting skills by playing soccer and volleyball. W did a great job in coaching his younger friends in kicking the ball. N came up with the fun idea of placing balls under her shirt which were followed by a few of us.
We hope everyone is having a great start to the week!
Love,
Buds Class Children
