Jungle Animals

“Jungle” Pretend Play

Today was round two of our “jungle” pretend play as we have more friends who came in today to share their ideas to add to our collaborative storytelling. Based on L’ idea of  “hanging '' toy animals from branches, R, K and S also played with that idea and figured which of the animals could stay on top of the branches the longest. They had to take into consideration the animals’ size and weight. The outcome resembled the famous tree climbing goats in Morocco, Africa.

A, M, and N bonded together by inserting branches and twigs through the holes of a wooden block.

“Colorful Night Safari” Artwork

It was also round two for our “Colorful Night Safari” artwork and it was lovely to see how our older friends stepped up to guide our younger friends in doing this piece. G guided N in brushing paste. R and Erika worked on doing patterns by alternating colored paper. L enjoyed going through the bowl of colorful paper.

Trucks and Wheels that Go Round and Round

In congruence with our ongoing theme “Transporting Around the Globe”, vehicles are an integral part of our learning. W and G bonded by rolling a wheel to and fro to each other. They coached one another on how fast and how much force they needed to exert when it was their respective turn to roll the wheel. I enjoyed spinning the wheels of the vehicles that his hands managed to catch amongst the many vehicles that zoomed around the room.

Circle Time

For Circle Time, we first settled down by listening to Deb Gruelle’s “Ten Little Night Stars” to help a few friends get ready for a discussion. It was nice to witness a few of us take the lead in telling the story to our friends who just joined us this year.

After reading the story, we all sang Nat King Cole’s “L-O-V-E” and did our morning roll call with the help of animal finger puppets.

Outdoor Play

The weather was lovely and we had the chance to play with friends from Petals Class.

We hope you all are enjoying the last day of February.

Love,
