Petals Gym Class!

Hello moms and dads, we had another marvelous day at school! We started our morning playing with blocks, animals, and food toys. E has been fascinated with lizards ever since he learned about them. He got the lizard toy and the animal book and explored more about lizards. “I wonder what it eats” he asked himself and tried feeding it rice. R was also curious about animals and asked his teachers what some of the animals were in the toy box. “What is this animal?”. He discovered an ox, a squirrel, and a dingo.

For our crafts today, we had a fun cutting and pasting activity! First, we were handed a pair of scissors and a blue strip of paper. We freely chopped up the paper, some big, some small, and some super tiny! After we chopped up the first strip, Nimo let us choose a color for our next cutting activity. This time, Nimo drew a few straight lines on the strip of paper and asked us to cut along the lines. Once we were done chopping up the paper, Nimo handed us a brown sheet of paper and some glue. We pasted the cut paper freely on the brown paper, some of us made designs. T said, “I’m going to make a spiderman robot… I’m going to make a dinosaur.” When he finished he created a Dinosaur Robot! J had a great time cutting, we could tell because he shredded up the paper in tiny pieces! S experimented with the glue and was curious how the glue felt on his fingers, “sticky” he said.

At the other table some of our friends drew their self-portrait using a mirror. G was a little shy looking at himself in the mirror at first, but with a little help from Sayaka, he was able to carefully examine his face and make an amazing drawing that Nimo could recognize as a face! We packed away all of our things and had our snacks. Our Snack Leaders T, G, and R did a great job leading our snack time song. K was very curious on what Nimo was eating. He took a peek and saw Nimo had vegetable sticks for snack. “Cabbage! Carrort! Cucumber!” he said as he pointed at the vegetables he saw.

We gathered into a circle to sing our good morning song. One of our friend was a little shy this morning, L helped her friend and sang his name for him. As always L sang beautifully and confidently! We checked our Classroom Job board and saw K, E, S, and P were our weather reporters. They went out to the balcony and checked the weather, when they came back they reported that the weather was cloudy and looked like it might rain. Our Attendance Monitor was J, and he counted all of our friends, we had 10 friends today!

While we waited for Nimo to get ready for our Gym Class, Sayaka read us a book, “I Need A New Bum” by Dawn McMillan and Ross Kinnaird. It was a very silly and fun book to read! When we finished the book, Nimo was ready and we started our gym class. We started with some star jumps, banana stretches, and poses that helped work our core. We then did some animal movements, we hopped like a rabbit, walked like a bear, and crawled like a crocodile. We played the sumo game and then used the bar to practice hanging. H was interested in the bar and went to Nimo to try hanging! P was very brave and didn’t hesitate to hang upside down on the bar! We finished our Gym class playing a Japanese game called, Nani ga ochita. When an apple fell from the sky we had to go get it and eat it up. If a hand fell from the sky we needed to cover our heads so we don’t get an ouchie. If lightning fell from the sky we needed to hide our belly buttons so the lightning doesn’t take it away! We marched around the room and listened to the song and did the actions to keep ourselves safe!

We had another fun and exciting day in Petals! Have a lovely evening everyone and we will see you again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
