Do you like apples?
Happy Monday, hope everyone had a fun and restful weekend! We had a great start to another exciting week in school! We started our morning playing with wooden blocks and cars. We had one table with sensory trays set up. We had all kinds of things inside, wood chips, marbles, and wood bark. We used spoons and bowls to scoop them up, we also used our hands to feel the materials in our hands. On our art table we had bowls of different color paint. We put our paper in a tray then used pipettes to get drops of paints on our paper, then used a straw to blow on the drops and spread them out on to the paper! The pipettes were so much fun to use, some of us were so interested in the pipettes we forgot to use the straw. Our teachers only taught us how to use the pipettes and blowing into the straw. The rest was up to us, so we let our imagination and creativity go free! Each of our works of art were all unique and beautiful!
S did a great job building a huge tower with blocks! He showed his teachers and said, “tall”. C asked Sayaka if she could get some paper, glue, and sparkles to make her very own animal friend! R asked for a sheet of paper to draw on and she drew her dad, Petals class, Reika, Her babysitter and Japanese teacher, and lots of hearts! J called his teacher and showed the amazing work he did with the number blocks, he ordered them neatly from 1 to 10. When Nimo announced, “3 more minutes to play Petals!”, J grabbed the number 3 block and showed his teachers and friends. R was very kind to help Sayaka put away all of the wood chips when it was clean up time.
We packed away our toys and had our snacks then read books until our friends were ready for the park. After we put the books away, C shared with us, “I read a book inside this house *pointed at Petals Class*”. Before we went to the park, we sang some songs about days and months. We sang a song which was about the seven days of the week and a song about the 12 months in the year. Nimo introduced us to a calendar and asked us what we thought it was used for. T thought the calendar was something to check how tall we were. G added that the calendar gets bigger as the kids get bigger. We took a closer look at the calendar and noticed lots of numbers. We counted from 1 to 30 together. We also found the seven days of the week and the name of the month. We learned that the calendar is something people use to see what number (day), week, and month it is. Using the calendar, we figured out today was Monday, September 5.
It was hot outside, but we all still had a great time running around and playing under the sun! P especially wanted to play tag as he said, “Come catch me!” and ran as fast as he could! K wanted to go down the big slide with Nimo so he chased Nimo saying “Together! Together!”. We had so much more to do today so we played for about 15 minutes then went back to school. We quickly cooled down then gathered around for our circle time. We sang our usual songs, “Good Morning” and “How Are You” L did a great job singing, “My name is L”, with a big and beautiful voice! We wanted to share with everyone of the food we like to eat. We sang a silly song where Nimo asked two things we like eat, such as apple and pasta. Then he put the two foods together and asked if we liked that. E said, “That doesn’t sound so yummy”. We had silly combinations like potato grapes, spicy ice cream, tomato cookies, just to name a few. Next, we told the class what we like to eat then asked the class if they like it too. We learned that some things that we like, not all of our friends like, and the things that a lot of other friends like, we aren’t a big fan of. We talked about how it’s ok that people like something, and we don’t like something, we just have to mind how to say it respectfully. Here are something things our friends said they like to eat.
E: Grapes
K: Banana!
R: Ice Cream… Chocolate Ice Cream!
J: Hokakawa
L: Mango Ice Cream
C: I love tomatoes
G: Ice Cream!
T: Mangos
S: Ice Cream
R: I like Ice Cream. Oh the grape kind!
We didn’t get to ask P and C because they were busy getting ready to go home, we will make sure to ask them the next time we see them!
Thank you everyone for another lovely day! Have a lovely evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
