Golden Week Stories

Hello, everyone! It was great to welcome back all our families, friends and teachers today. We hope everyone had a wonderful time together during the golden week.

Morning Activities

Homemade Playdough
Are we talking about playdough? Who doesn't love playing with playdough?
It was a long weekend for all of us, and we missed coming to school every day to be with our friends and teachers. We were delighted to see the different stations for our morning activities.
To start our day, we all agreed to help Liezel to make playdough. We gathered all the ingredients and put them on the table. To start making our play dough, J measured a cup of salt and placed it inside the bowl. Seiken measured and added some flour . We each had a turn mixing the dry ingredients, which included flour, and salt. Then we added oil, and lemon juice. J suggested to mix green and yellow food coloring to see what color would come out. What do you think happened?

We slowly added warm water and food coloring into the mixture until we had the right texture. And then, what colour did we make? We made a yellow green playdough this time!
When Callie saw what we were doing, she came and joined us and requested to make another batch of playdough. Together Ja, Hi, and Callie mixed red and blue into the mixture and made purple playdough. So we had two colours of playdough today. We used some playdough cutters and molds to create interesting things e. g. Su made a tree and a helicopter; Ca made an Elephant and a “strawcake” and Hikaru made a rhino and a ball and a pizza.
We LOVE playing with playdough.

Nature Sensory Play
To make our sensory tub, we had some natural materials, which included gumballs, acorns, pine cones, dried leaves, seashells, twigs and branches. To bring more textures and interest into our sensory play, we added some extra things e. g. straws, cups, spoons, and magnifying glasses. Creating an environment using natural material gives us the time, space, and opportunity to explore and investigate what is significant for our learning. While some friends were busy at the playdough table, another group of friends thought about making something as well. Jn made strawberry juice using acorns, shells and pinecones; Subaru made apple juice and used a magnifying glass to look at his playdough carefully. He also made a comment, “When you look at the glass (magnifying glass) it's getting bigger (playdough)

Circle Time
To get everyone ready we gathered around in a circle and held hands. We danced and moved our bodies to the rhythm of the Banana song. We also sang our good morning song. together to greet our friends and teachers.

Where did you go during the long weekend? Some of us shared our own short stories.

Ce: “We went to gymnastics, and I have a Dragon story. We also went to the mountain and I did skiing, and it wasn't snowing. I played peek-a, peek-a with my brother and sister.”

Su-:“I went to the Doctor, and I saw a Police Officer “

To:“I went to the zoo, and I saw a peacock, penguin, lion, monkey, crocodile, and iguana.”

Hu: “I go with Mommy, Daddy, and Nini. Akira go to gakko!”

Jn: “I went skating with Papa; it's snowing.”

Park Time
It was a nice walk together under the sun. We all had a fabulous time playing with our friends and teachers.
