Show and Tell: How to draw a pony!

Welcome back to school everyone! Everyone was so eager to share with our friends and teachers about their wonderful adventures over the week long break! We had friends enjoy skiing, going to Universal Sudios, and playing at the park or at home. We were so happy to hear our friends had a great time and are refreshed and ready for another week of school! We started our morning getting back in to our usual routines, then spent the morning continuing our butterfly origami craft from last week and drawing pictures for our friend Chris because his last day of Ohana is coming soon. When we were done with our crafts we played with the wooden blocks and dinosaur toys.

After snack time, our teachers asked us which park we would like to go to today. We all voted for Kogai Park, so without wasting any more time, we all got ready and headed for our favorite play spot! We had a great time climbing, zipping, and sliding with our friends. So good to be back to school! When we got back to school we gathered into a circle and welcomed our Show and Tell Star for today, Z! Z was very excited for her Show and Tell because she was telling everyone it was her turn today, but what she was going to do was a secret. Z prepared a set of markers, a sheet of paper, a pencil, and an eraser. She told us she was going to show us how she draws a pony! K asked, “What kind of Pony?”, Z, “A normal pony”. Z explained the parts of the horse as she drew it, “Real ponies have four legs, a body, a tail, and this… I don’t know what it’s called but real ponies use it to breathe.”

S: What is this?

Z: That is the pony’s hair.

K: How old is it?

Z: It’s 5 ½ years old. I learned how to draw ponies without watching how to do it.

Z finished drawing one big horse and told us that this one is the mommy horse and she is going to start drawing the pony, which is a baby horse.

As Z continued her drawing, our friends continued asking questions.

T: Did you ever ride a pony?

Z: Of course I have, but that was a long time ago when I was little.

K: What does the pony eat?

Z: They eat apples just like us.

As Z finished up our art, she quizzed us, “Can you guess what is missing?”.

C: The tail!

Z: That’s right!

D: My sister showed me how to eat a horse!

S: Where is daddy?

Z: I decided not to draw daddy because there isn’t enough space.

K: What is that?

Z: It’s not green, it’s turquoise. I’ll show you how to make turquoise, you mix green and yellow. It’s magic!

K: (This big dot) Looks like an asteroid hitting the mom.

T: It looks like green stars.

Y: Which park (does it live)?

Z: This horse lives in the farm.

K: What kind of farm?

Z: The kind that people bring their animals to.

S: Where is the sky?
Z: I don’t want to make the sky. I don’t need the sky for this picture.

Y: What do they eat other than apples?

Z: They also eat Ukraine bread all the time.

K: Do these two ponies go crazy?

Z: No, they don’t go crazy because this is pony land.

Z finished drawing her pony and she passed her art around so we can take a closer look.

We all thanked Z for the lovely show and tell and then had our lunch. Hope everyone has a great evening! See you all again tomorrow!

 Love,

Flowers
