It’s Boarding Time!

All aboard! Since it’s our international month and we just a recent trip to the Philippines, our teachers thought it was a good idea to pretend that we were in an airport! We remember the e- book we read, “My First Airplane Ride” by Patricia Hubbell, and we saw what it was like inside the airport and the airplane.

As we cleaned up after free play time, we saw Pauline arranging chairs and sticking a lot of numbers and letters on the whiteboard. We later learned that on the whiteboard, those were the different gates that led to planes going to different places; the chairs were our seats in the airplane.

Pauline pretended to be the ground attendant, and she was seated behind a desk. We lined up in front of her, and she greeted us with a bright “Good morning! Where are you going today, sir/ ma’am?”

“U.S.A.,” R replied.

“Okinawa,” R said.

“Hiroshima,” H said.

“Canada,” M said.

“Canada,” L told the ground attendant.

“Okinawa,” A said.

“Hokkaido,” K said.

“I’m going home,” C said.

“Where is that, ma’am?” Ground attendant Pauline asked.

“Far away,” C replied.

“And that is?”

“U.S.A.,” C answered.

“Israel,” S said.

“Canada,” O answered.

The passengers all got their own boarding passes that says which gate should they go. They should use their good looking eyes- or else they might be on the wrong plane!

Everybody did a good job of looking for their gate. We had gates 1 to 9, and then our ground attendant mixed up all the numbers on the gates instead of arranging them in order. She said she wanted to test us and see if we can still find the gates– and we did! We are ready to travel again!

Next, was looking for our seat in the airplane. This was a bit tricky as it was a combination of numbers and letters. We saw on our boarding passes that some seat numbers said “4A” or “10E”. We saw numbers next to the seats that had letters on them. Where do we look first?

Flight attendants Sayaka and Pauline guided us and said that we should look at the number first. If we find the right number, next is we should find the correct letter. We were all able to find our correct seats! Yay! K did a good job of finding his seat number 10E, and B found his seat number 9A. It was also a good practice of identifying numbers and letters.

After our circle time, we headed to the temple. The temple grounds were bathed in bright sunshine, and we had fun running around and playing with the rings. Some of us actually wanted to stay indoors, but our teachers thought it was a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful weather and have a breath of fresh air.

That’s all for today. How about you? How was your day?

Love,
