All About Our Friends
It’s hard to learn everyone’s names when there are 17 friends in all of Petals Class. Today, we tested our knowledge of our friends. Do we know what they look like? How about their names? Kai started by showing us the pictures of everyone's faces and asked us if we know who the person was. If we knew the person we raised our hand quietly to tell the class. Then we said “Good morning!” to him or her. We went around the class so we knew our friends face and name but in the middle of circle time we had to stop because we have a special visitor. Do you know who it was? Aug said it was him. He stood up and wanted to teach us something but decided not to. Simon also said he’s the special guest. He stood up and pointed his tippy toes to the ground. It looked like he was doing “good toes”. The special guest that is here is the one that teaches “good toes and naughty toes.” Z raised his hand and said it’s, “Paularyna!”. Is that a Pauline and Maryna mixed together? We got a hit that it’s the ballet teacher. S said, “I know it’s Mallarina!” It’s so close! Maryna teaches ballet and she’ll be in Petals Class every Thursday to teach us dance.
We divided the dance class in two groups. While one of the group dances the other one had more free play time. Maryna taught us a scarecrow song were we had to sleep and jump up and down. There was also a song to check the weather and to learn our shapes. We made square, triangle, diamond, start and heart shapes with our body. Then we hopped around the room to the “hopping song”. Of course stretching is important. We made sure our body is flexible and nimble before we stretched our toes. It’s very important to have “good toes” in ballet. Thank you Maryna for dancing with us!
While our friends were dancing we were building towers for our dinosaurs, playing with puzzles, numbers activities and drawing. This is our time to be creative with our imagination and try different art supplies in the classroom.
After we ate snack it was time for us to test our knowledge of our friends. Kai hid the pictures and slowly revealed our friends pictures and we had to guess who it was. It was amazing how fast we could guess some of our friends!
We’re lucky the sun was out today so we could play at the park! We’re getting better at looking forward when we walk and touching our friends to make sure we’re not too far behind them. Here are our pictures from the park and our morning free play. Hope you’ve enjoyed the day!
