Jungle and Farm Animals

What a hot day today! Thankfully, no more rain and we could go outside for a good walk. So we did that during the later part of our day. First, we had to look outside to make sure that Mr. Sun was up and ready to shine. He did shine on us and we’re very thankful for a good chance to breathe some fresh air. On our activity table, we had an art activity with the dot markers and some animal sten-cils. What we did was we tried to use the dot markers and create some patterns with various colors and shade.

The other table was busy with the new play dough that Chiaki made for us for summer school. This is our favorite and we surely enjoy making figures and shapes that we like to offer our friends and teachers.

John made a long piece of paper wherein he connected the scrap paper of A4 size printed paper and then we used tape on them to stay connected. We used the dot marker and regular markers to make a beautiful picture. Most of us told our teachers that we were making a monkey, flowers and trees. The art turned out to be something magical because the colors and the lines being created only showed us the importance of be-ing together and to understand that each shape, color and line in our picture is valued. Well done, Buds class!

For our circle time, John showed books that have jungles and farms. We were asked if Ohana is also a jungle and some of our friends said, “Yes!” But the question was, “Where are the trees? Animals? And bugs? These things are certainly not here because we have a classroom. Now, we learned that we were actually looking at a jungle where all other animals live and thrive. We then saw different animals as well and categorized them according to where they live. For example, we all know that cows can live in the farm and monkeys can live in the jungle. We sang, “Walking in the jungle” and “Old MacDonald had a farm”. Here we’re able to understand where certain animals live.

Thank you so much Ohana for another fun day at school. See you all again tomorrow.

Lots of love,
