Arranging a Flower Bouquet
This week, we have been learning about florists and the flower shop, a part of the community which provides us with beautiful flowers and plants. Flowers and plants can make celebrations more meaningful and can also brighten up just about any one’s day.
< FLOWER MAKING>
We have learned the three main parts that make a flower: petals, stem, and the roots. Knowing the anatomy of a flower helped us in conceptualizing better on how we ought to design our own flowers. Erika was with us the whole time to assist us in making our own flowers. It was fun to see how some of us preferred to have less petals while some wanted an extravagant looking flower by using a pattern in arranging the petals. Aside from the flowers, we also showed creativity in how to use the glue stick… some of us used popsicle sticks to take the glue out of the tube!
< FACE SHIELD MAKING>
After choosing and coloring which animal head décor we wanted, we proceeded to make our face shield more safe & sturdy by applying colored tape on its side and attaching a sponge.
Applying the tape to cover the corners of the laminated sheet proved to be a bit challenging. We had to make sure our fingers were working fast enough so that it does not get stuck on the tape when we are about to stick it.
< A LOT OF THINGS GOING ON>
Aside from the two table activities, there were still loads of fun things available to do. We played with the light table, practiced our cutting skills, challenged our minds by completing a variety of puzzles and using magnifying glasses to better investigate the anatomy of the flower parts and of course, making funny & silly faces with it too!
< CIRCLE TIME>
We started our Circle Time by creating different rhythm patterns with our body. Using our hands, head, feet, laps, and stomachs, we made different sound beats. After making rhythm patterns, we proceeded to doing our name roll call and searched for each other when it was time to give back our name tags to Erika.
Using the flowers we made earlier in the day, we made our very own flower arrangements and bundled it up to make a bouquet. It was fun choosing which flowers we made to include in our bouquets. After making our flower bouquets, we ended Circle Time with the Scarf Song. We were asked to do various actions with our scarves such as letting it fly up in the air, blowing it, catching it, etc. Towards the end of the song, we had a flying scarves dance party.
After our Circle Time, we browsed through each other’s Life Books and identified some of our friends who we haven’t seen for such a long time.
We wish every one a lovely weekend and see you on Monday!
Love,
Buds Class Children
