Making a house
Good day everyone! It was a fantastic day with a fantastic weather. We’re excited to go out and play at the park so our teachers decided to have an early schedule. Although, it was the later part of our day we still had the chance to play and explore our environment.
For our morning activities, we continued on making our photo frames as we wanted to complete this by the end of this week with Erika. We still stuck some number stickers on the frames until they were filled with lots of designs and colors. The second table was the play dough area. We missed playing and squishing our play dough so all of us sat down and tried to play with it as much as we could. It was also nice to practice our fine motor skills and be creative with what we wanted to make. Some of us made ice cream, pancakes and other food that we could create with our bare hands. Surely, we spent more than half an hour just trying to experiment with this material.
The third table was the continuation of our Map Art. We were so focused and did a lot of it as we progress with our art work. Two days ago, we painted with white and blue. Of course, we always find something entertaining as we explored with this art medium. We used our hands, brushes, corks and even spoons in spreading the colors. It was really a collaborative effort as some of us absolutely put their best effort into the activity. Today, we put the shredded paper to add some more colors and texture on our artwork. This signifies the land where trees and grass grow. We used the special white glue and sprinkled the pieces of paper on it. It suddenly became a fur-like design on our painting which our teachers always say that they are quite happy about how it turned out to be.
For our circle time, we always love to incorporate our music session. Here, we sang our favorite songs. However, the most requested song for today was “Baby Shark”. This song is truly classic as our friends know all the actions and they were quite proud that they were able to sing and dance it in front of their friends and teachers. We also practiced counting with our fingers. This also an important skills that we could actually learn because later on, we’ll have more counting activities in our group discussions. It would be nice to recap what we have learned from last term as well. Lastly, John talked about building a house in Buds class. We were so curious on how we’re going to make it because we clearly had no clue. So, he put out a big cardboard box again and he started to show us the parts of the house like the wall, roof, windows and a big door. He showed us the box and it was a bit big but we’re definitely excited and ready to get inside it. However, we needed to make a door and some windows. So, some of our friends decided where to put them in the desired area they wanted to have it. At the end of the activity, we knocked on the door and asked politely, “May I come in?” and when the door opened, we all giggled and went inside our house.
Thank you so much Ohana for another great day! See you all again tomorrow.
Lots of love,
All the children from Buds class
