A Special Guest in Petals!
We had a short and sweet day today. After our free play time, we had a special guest come in to join us. It was Am’s grandma Ma! She entered the classroom with a few large bags which got us excited for what was going to happen! We huddled around Am and Ma and they started to talk about what was going to happen. Ma began by introducing us to some special animals that only live in Australia. The kangaroo, koala, crocodile, goanna, kookaburra, echidna, and the emu. Next out of the bag was a cute wombat puppet. She brought toys of the animals so we could see what they actually look like. The reason she showed us is because she was going to read a book called, A Very Wombat Christmas by Lachlan Creagh. The book was about the Wombat staying up all night preparing for a grand Christmas party for his friends, the kangaroo, koala, crocodile, goanna, kookaburra, echidna, and emu. After the decorations and all the cooking the Wombat was lining up the presents. He found out that he didn’t prepare a present for his friend Emu, but it was too late to go buy. Many ideas and unsuccessful attempts later, he decided to give him a special card that promised that the Wombat would do something nice everyday for a whole year.
After Ma finished the story she told us we had a fun activity waiting for us. She prepared for us a pretty golden plate and a variety of stickers! We got one golden plate each and we decorated them with any sticker we wanted to use. Once we were done sticking, she would punch a hole at the top and tie a string on it to make it into an ornament.
Today was a very short day, so after our art activity we sang and danced with Ma and it was already time to go. We received a lovely gift from Ma, Li, and Ha! Thank you so much!
And just like that our first term comes to a close. Thank you everyone for making the first half a beautiful first year! Those of you not coming to winters school, please take care and Happy Holidays! Those of you attending winter school, see you on Monday!
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!
