Dinosaur Galore
Good day everyone! What a beautiful day again! It was definitely a day to look forward to because everyone was excited to see what was happening inside our busy classroom. It was so dark and something was projected on our wall. Anyway, we had to start doing our morning jobs first before the great adventure began.
Ice Dinosaur
On our table, we found a big block of ice. Inside, we were quite curious because they all looked familiar. We have been playing with this for quite a while and it was interesting to see them inside the actual ice. There were also some paintbrushes and regular brushes that we could use to scrape off some little tinge of ice until we could all see what was (or were) in it. Our teachers helped us to put warm water on the ice so that we could see the process of melting. We noticed that when it was melting, slowly, slowly the shape was changing and it was getting really smaller. When one of our friends was able to get one out of the ice. He excitedly said, “Wow! I got one out!” It was so funny how we could be so joyful in achieving these things in our classroom. No matter how big or small.
Video projection
Our teachers brought a projector and we all saw some wonderful video clips of dinosaurs. We saw land and sea dinosaurs all in all. The experience was quite stimulating because most of our friends were so engaged and psyched about the different colors and figures that we could see on our walls. It was also a great sensory experience for all of us because of the fact that we had the chance to actually see dinosaurs on video and moving endlessly. We also tried to touch the dinosaur but some of us were a bit hesitant because the images were quite big and intimidating but in the end it was a new and meaning learning experience we had in our classroom.
Sensory play
We still had our table with sand and some shredded paper with dinosaur toys. How we loved the sand! We didn’t even care about spilling them on the floor. We just went at it and became very explorative as we touched and felt the texture. Some of our friends were even telling made-up stories about dinosaurs. The story was a bit tricky to understand because they said they made a sea and land dinosaur but they all lived in the tree. It was fun and full of imagination!
Which dinosaur am I today?
Yesterday, Chiaki began describing and identifying various dinosaurs in the classroom. We had the Pterodactyl, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops and Brachiosaurus. We got to choose our own dinosaur and after each time we have chosen one, our teachers always made a big “RAWWWRR!”
Color categorization
For our circle time, we had a little color exercises. We had some yellow, green, orange, blue and pink bowls on the carpet. Our teachers said that we need to put which colorful bowl the dinosaurs belong to. For our younger friends, it was a bit tricky because we really had to guide to identify the right colors. For our bigger friends, it was very easy to understand and categorize everything accordingly.
Pancake Dinosaur
We also had a chance to mix our pancake powder together with water and oil. We learned the word “stir” which also means to mix. So, we all had a chance of stirring the pancake mix until it was ready to cook. Of course, we didn’t put anything dairy in it. The pancake still tastes as awesome!
Ballet with Maryna
It’s Thursday and we just love our ballet day with Maryna! As always, we enjoyed doing our special songs with her and most of our friends are starting to become more aware of the routine in class.
Dinosaur Firefighters by Sarah McIntyre
We had another story book that we listened to today. It was about a dinosaur who wanted to become a firefighter. It was a funny book that our children enjoyed listening to. All of us had a great time with her antics but in the end she also become the hero of the town by rescuing the other dinosaurs from the burning building.
Walk around the neighborhood
One friend of ours started to sing Yesterday Once More by The Carpenters. It was very surprising because she knows the tune of the song and when Erika played the song from her phone, she started to sing a lot more with it. We didn’t have a chance to go to the park but we’re able to walk around the temple and said hi to people who we passed by.
Thank you so much and have a great day! See you all again tomorrow!
Lots of love,
Buds Class children
