Our bones, dancing bones

Good morning! It was a beautiful weather again today and we just couldn’t wait what is in store for us. We are excited to see how our friends are growing in our care and we surely look forward for more learning experiences today.

Table activities

We had a lot of fun activities here today. First, the dinosaur parts were on the table and since we learned about the dinosaur bones in class last week. Now is the time to actually put them on our body parts. We used the popsicle sticks. Also, the different colors of the popsicle sticks gave us more interest in working on them. We did the leg bones, neck bones, backbones, ribs and the skull. We spent a long time making sure that all of the popsicle sticks have enough glue to stick on the cardboard boxes. It was totally cool to see how our dinosaur model is turning out to be.

Dinosaur claws painting

We used the tissue boxes with cut-out cardboard that resemble like claws of the dinosaur. Again, we mixed blue and red together and then the magic happened again. It became purple and all of our friends were so amazed to see the change of colors.

Sensory activities

The dinosaur figurines were so popular that our friends didn’t notice that the sand were all over the carpet area. The rocks and other twigs were part of the table activity and this gave more texture for us to understand the differences.

Carpet area

There were some cars and animal figurines on the carpet area. Some of our friends put some sand in the big boat and it became another sensory play experience for all of us. However, we also need to understand that some toys should stay in their respective containers so that everyone would know how to play properly while having fun at the same time.

Gym class

Miyashita-sensei came to our class again and he brought the big green mat again. He put this in front of us and we started doing various calisthenics like somersault and rolling from side to side. We then played the “Red, Yellow and Green” game wherein we had to stop when it’s red, to go when it’s green and to look around when it’s yellow. Thank you so much for today Miyashita-sensei.

Circle time

Today, we made a follow-up lesson about dinosaur bones which we talked about last week. This time, we talked about our own bones. First, our teachers asked us to touch our heads and feel what is inside. Then, we noticed that it was a bit hard and our teachers told us that is our head bone also known as a skull. Then, from the head bone, we went all the way down to the neck bone, then to the backbone, then to the hip bone, next was thigh bone, and then the knee bone, leg bone and foot bone. Actually, we also had a song about it and we called it, “Them bones, dancing bones”. It was a catchy song we had a great time learning about it today.

Some of us went out for a walk and others decided to stay in the classroom. It was another learning experience to talk about the places we go to in Azabu juban. Some of our friends told us that they love going to the ice cream shop and a few of our friends mentioned that they enjoyed buying things from the supermarket.

Thank you so much Ohana for another wonderful day and see you all again tomorrow.

Lots of love,

Buds Class children
