5 and 1/2 hours
8:30…
We came into the classroom. On the floor there were dominos, for us to play with. One table had birthday cards for us to decorate. Another table had paper, markers and color pencils to draw. The last table had a sequence puzzle for us to play with.
8:37…
We worked on the birthday cards with Hisami. When we finished making the cards we weighed ourselves and wrote down how much we weighed on the piece of construction paper. At the same time this was happening, Shelley sat at the table with us to draw more pictures. We asked her to draw certain pictures and in return we got inspired and drew our own pictures. We drew houses, trains and our coming up sports day event next Monday. Liezel was on the carpet the whole time observing us playing with dominos. Natan and Orion were building slides and walls out of the dominos.
8:56…
We continued doing our activities but Kai joined us on the sequence puzzle table. We took time looking at the pieces and put them together from 1st, 2nd and then 3rd. Then we explained happened with the photos. After we completed the puzzle, Kai took out a sheet of paper and folded it into three different sections. We thought about our daily events and drew it in sequence. Sarah drew what she does before she does to bed, Ai drew what she does when she steps out of the house and Io drew what he does we he wakes up.
9:44…
Em our clean up leader for the day beats the drum and sings, “Clean up, Clean up everybody everywhere. Clean up, Clean up everybody do your share.”
9:50…
We sat on the edge of the carpet and looked around the room. “Who is here today?”, Kai asked. “Where is Shelley and Maki?”. “Shelley is in the office. Maki is…” We took turns guessing where Maki is. Some of our guesses were. Maybe she’s sick. Maybe she’s in the buds class. Maybe she’s busy. Maybe she’s at home. Maybe she’s on vacation. Nobody knows for sure maybe we can remember to ask her tomorrow when she comes to school.
10:00…
So far we’ve already looked at our eyes and feet, now we’re going to look at our nose! We started by closing our eyes while Kai went around taking photos of random friend’s nose on his phone. Then he showed us the picture and said, “Who knows, Whose nose?” ??? We have no idea who’s nose it is… if we look very carefully we can see specs of little hair on top of the nose. It turned out it was Al’s nose! Even Al thought it was someone else’s nose. The second picture we looked at had little crusts under the nose… We wonder who that could be. It wasn’t until Kai gave us the hint of the persons name were we able to guess. The third nose we only had two choices to choose from either Tai or Mares. Even this was hard for us. We were guessing other people like Ken, Kai or Na. The last nose we looked at was between Io or Or. Gr noticed there was a little spot on his nose so she guess it was Or. She was completely right! It was Or! We also looked at differences between what makes “older” nose or “younger” nose. We thought that older noses are a bit darker and bigger than “younger” noses. The older the nose the bigger it gets. We will have a chance to see all of our friends and teachers noses when it get up on the wall. “Who knows, Whose nose?”
10:33…
We found our names on the board washed our hands and got ready to eat snack. But when we walked up to the board we saw that all of our names were upside down. We had to figure out our names this way. Luckily Liezel was there to help us.
10:48…
It’s time to go to the park but before then we had to look at our books. A lot of them are being damaged because we didn’t care for them enough. Sa, Al and Gr sat in front of us to show us how to properly turn pages and to hold the books. We hope we can take care of our book for we can look at them some more in the future.
11:09…
The Bus Class are already at the park! They’re all in the green area so we enjoyed playing with them and chasing Nimo around in the short time we met.
11:15…
The buds class left so we have the whole green area to ourselves. Kai used our drink bottle to make an oval track for us to run on. We need to learn how to run on the outside of the bottles or “cones” for sports day. It’s very important for our safety and other peoples safety to stay on the track and run around the cone. We got down in our sprinting stance and… “Ready, get set… GO!!” and off we went. We wanted to race so many times.
11:27…
Free play! Some of us played out in the park and some stayed in the green area to do more running. In the green area we ran lots of laps and different kinds of laps. We skipped, bear crawled, ran some zig zags and learned how to do relays.
11:40…
“Find a partner, find a partner and line up and line up.” We sang as we got ready to go back to school to eat lunch and have rest time.
1:10…
If we didn’t sleep we got up and sat at the big table to do some quite drawing while our other friends slept.
1:45…
It’s time for everyone to wake up so we can prepare to go home.
2:00…
It was a great day in the Flowers Class! Not everyday is the same but today was our day!
