These are a few of my favorite things ...

September 14th, 2017

Dear Parents,

‘Raindrops on roses
And whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things’

This is our new favorite song and we sang it throughout the day. Infact we even made our own version of the song:-

‘Raindrops on Av                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                And whiskers on Wi                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Bright beautiful dresses on Petals Class girlsss                                                                                                                                                                                              Happy children playing with toys                                                                                                                                                                                                                      These are a few of our favorite things’

We laughed when we sang this version because it was so funny. Last week we colored the gingerbread man cut out at school and took it home to decorate it with pictures of our favorite things. We are so happy that many of our friends already completed the craft and got it back to school. Our teachers have displayed it in the classroom for us to look at and discuss with our friends our favorite things. So friends, if you didn’t bring back your craft yet, please do so because we love to look at your work and sometimes it even helps us to initiate conversations with our friends and teachers. Also it makes us so proud of ourselves. This week was all about Me, Myself and I and hence it was the perfect opportunity for us to discuss our likes and dislikes. Al, An and Tem did their Favorite things ‘Show and Tell’ and we loved listening to them. Al confessed he loves cars, ipad, dumplings, cooking rice, driving near Mt. Fuji and listening to music. He said he loves his ‘daddy’s songs’. An pointed to the picture of his brother and said ‘I love Gobu’. He also loves cars, trucks and chocolate. He was very specific that he loves triceratops. Tem mentioned that apart from buses and cars, he also loves monorail and his favourite food is Tarako. Thank you friends for your first ‘Show and Tell’. Later we all sang ‘Few of my favorite things’ song.

It was a beautiful day and we went to play in the park. We were so happy to play with the sand toys today and many of us filled buckets after bucket of water and poured it in the sand. When the sand was wet, we molded it to make giant cupcakes. So many of our friends got drenched in water and soiled their clothes in the sand and hence our teacher had to change their clothes.

During the morning free play, Mo, Ai and Av worked on their fine motor skills and tried to pin the socks on the clothes line. It was quiet challenging for us and we had to press really hard to open the pins. Then the next challenge was to have the perfect hand eye coordination as we put the pin on the sock.

An, Anto and Li enjoyed water play with ocean animals in the sensory tub. Wi, Te, Al and Tai played with the car set whereas Gr, Er, Ri and Li did beautiful craft work as they stuck pom pom balls and foam sticker on the letters ‘P’ and ‘E’. We wondered where they got the beautifully painted letters from, and our teachers confessed that they cut it out from the group art work we were working on. They also mentioned that in the next few days we could decorate the letters ‘T’ ‘A’ ‘L’ and ‘S’ to complete the word ‘PETALS’ for our class. Yeahh!! This really surprised us and we think our teachers are just as creative as us.
