It’s Showtime!

We had a Wonderful Wednesday full of fun and learning in flowers class! We would like to say a big thank you to N (A’s Dad), T ( A’s Mom) and K ( A’s Brother) for preparing an amazing Hinamatsuri zoom today in our class! We also would like to say “Thank You” to Shelley for joining us and watching our movie night!

Our long awaited Movie Night is finally here! Everyone was so excited when they came to school this morning, because we will be having our grand premiere. Yesterday, we added the final touches on everything we need to set up for the big day. Our tickets are ready, all chairs have it’s seat number stuck on them, and our popcorn stand is ready to serve. We had our own assigned tasks, and everyone was extremely cooperative in working together as a team. We cleared away unnecessary furniture to create the right atmosphere in our classroom.

We had a long queue at the entrance door; we each have our own pretend money ready to buy a ticket and some popcorn too. We had signboards to guide our friends, Y make sure that everyone sanitized their hands using our pretend alcohol spray. On the ticket booth K and K were selling out tickets and receiving payments. We had L and A in charge of the popcorn stand, our ticket collector would get our tickets and tell us which number seat to sit at, the door managers K and K opened and closed the door for us. Audio Manager A, Light Manager U, and Cameraman C waited for everyone to get seated and go the show rolling.

When everyone was ready seating on their assigned seat, the lights went out, then the movie started. It was so much fun watching ourselves on the big screen, it was our own movie after all. We were giggling and laughing on some funny parts of our friend’s movie, while enjoying our popcorn. We watched four movies all together, we have the Chico Bonbon and the Dinosaurs, Mirakuru Tunzu, Chico Bonbon help Stitch and The Dragon Story by Cr. Our teachers put together a “Making of” movie where we got to see us behind the scenes.

Our International Month:

We would like to say our Big Thank You to N, T and K for talking about Hinamatsuri. We also learn more about A while she was still in America.  A was born in America, she went to a Japanese School where she enjoyed Hinamatsuri Festival with her friends too.  A got a chance to eat hina-arare in one of the Japanese supermarket in her place. We saw many pictures of A and her family and the places they’ve been in America and some landmarks too!

Japan celebrates Hinamatsuri on March 3rd, it is a Special Holiday to commemorate the growth, happiness, and prosperity of young girls. On this day, families set up a special step altar on which to arrange their Emperor and Empress dolls, called “Hina” in japanese. They decorate this altar with peach blossoms and make offerings to the Hina dolls of freshly made rice cakes. We made our own Hina dolls Odairi-sama and Ohina-sama using a beautiful pattern origami. First, we draw the faces of the king and the Queen then glued it on the paper and took a pictures of them. Just before lunch time A’s gave each of us some Hina-arare, we put it in our backpack to take home and share with our family.

Today was a very busy day, and we all had a great time! Thank you everyone! Hope you have a lovely evening! Please remember that tomorrow is our Yearbook Photo Day! If you haven’t brought your Ohana Shirts please make sure to bring them tomorrow!

Thank you!

Love,

Flowers
