Good afternoon everyone!
Today our Petals friends joine dus once again for some fun, learning ans of course… WATER PLAY!
On the front table today, a few of us finished our paper bending sculptures. It was a lot of fun to pick out our special strips of colorful paper and then explore which ways we could shape them by twisting, looping and bending them with our fingers. To secure them, we glued them onto our cardboard bases and then set them up to dry!
At the second table, we build flower towers with come pretty flower petal puzzle pieces, stems and a base. We could fit each piece into another by gently placing them on top of each other. Before we knew it, there were beautiful flower towers all over the table!
In the free play area, we asked the teacher for the montessori activities again and we began stacking cups to creat houses, pyramid shapes and more! When the cups toppled over, we laughed out loud! We also explored making another type of stacking tower using the square picture blocks. This activity made us really think critically because there were only a certain way they could be stacked in one direction. The teachers clapped when we finished a huge tower together and said that we did a great job sharing them!
Soon, it was time for us to gether for morning circle. After singing our hello song, Brandon told us that we will all work together to build a tower out of jumbo LEGO blocks!
M-So big!
Brandon-What color is this block?
T-Yellow!
Brandon-It’s getting taller!
M-Wow!
K-Oh no!
T-No more
The class counted up to 20 blocks together! Our tower had become so tall!
M-Green!
K-Blue!
K-Wow, wow! So big!
Today was such a fun exercise in working together toward a common goal while using numbers, naming colors and flexing our problem solving skills! Way to go everyone!
Of course, no hot summer day would be complete without some water play! We all got a little wet and beat the heat by pouring water, spraying and splashing the teachers too!
Thank you so much for such an amazing day together!
See you tomorrow!
Love,
Buds
