Happy Tuesday! Today we read a story about Tanabata which explained how Orihime and Hikoboshi meet on this day each year if it isn’t raining. When we started reading, it was raining a bit, but by the time we finished reading, it stopped. We’re hoping that they can meet each other tonight!
CIRCLE TIME
Continuing from yesterday’s conversation about clothes, we asked who did their homework last night to learn what the machine that washes clothes is called in English.
M: Washing machine! My daddy told me!
We saw a picture of a washing machine, along with other things that you need to wash clothes and tried to put them order.
K: I think that will go inside the sentakki.
E: That is salt!
L: This is washing machine paper.
M: Clothes.
Some of us shared what we do with our dirty clothes when we take them off.
K: Into the basket.
E: I put it in the sink and I put it in a washing machine.
M: I put it on the floor.
L: In the upstairs. My mommy bring it and put in the washing machine.
D: I throw it in my bedroom and they go to the bathroom. My mommy put it on the drying rack.
D: I put it in the sink.
Y: Bed, then into the box.
We explained how the washing machine washes clothes.
K: First turn on, and it will turn. Stop and turn, and you can take it.
M: Push the button and you can take it. My sentakki is black!
H: My sentakki is white.
After washing what do we do with the clothes?
L: Outside!
D: It needs to dry.
After drying we do something to make it a bit smaller and easier to store until we wear it. What do we do to make it smaller?
D: Cut it!
K: Tap it.
E: Folding!
We each got a chance to show off our laundry folding skills! We learned that there’s more than one way to fold a t-shirt. It reminded us of when we did origami during the first week of summer school.
