Making a Bird Nest

Today we started into the day with lots of free play and crafts. Some of us were finishing their dream catchers today and we also started working on braiding strings together, to decorate our folder later on. We had so much fun playing with kitchen toys and building toys in the morning as well. As well as drawing and playing in the ambulance. After having a lot f time for doing all these things we got ready and cleaned up for circle time. We started with going thru the rules of give me 5 again.

D: Eyes on the speaker.

M: Hands and feet quiet.

E: Ears listening.

H: Sit straight.

After that we sang our good morning song to get to know each others names even better. Then E helped us with the Calendar today and M helped with counting in Japanese till 24. J helped us with the question of the day.

J: Have you seen the birds nest before?

L: Office. Stuck at tree.

T: I saw a pretend bird nest in a book.

-Why do birds build nests?

M: When I was walking with my mommy and daddy, I see a bird nest.

D: Eggs!

-What do birds use to build a nest?

T: I think they just use sticks so they can hide it on the wood.

J: Some birds use a tree and mud to make a nest.

E: Made of mud, lots of leaves, some branches. The mud sticks them together. The leaf is for the roof.

-A picture in a Book of a nest:

E: The little birds are coming out.

M: Grass.

J: Some birds have this claws.

After that we had a fun activity where we were building our own nests out of things we could find in the classroom. We made two teams and everyone was weaving a nest with their team together. At the end we tested if it could hold eggs, and is stable enough for wind and rain.

Shortly after we got ready to go to the park together. We spend some time there before heading back and getting ready for lunch.

It was another very fun day and we are excited to see what will happen tomorrow. Have a great evening and see you tomorrow!
