Happy Tuesday! Today we continued our paper theme by folding paper to make airplanes, jumping frogs, and other things. We tried our best to make the paper frog jump, but it was difficult. We also learned the how to throw paper airplanes, and E helped us with our technique! We enjoyed some time at the park, and read a Japanese style book called kamishibai.
KAMISHIBAI
In Japanese, kami means paper. Kamishibai is a special “paper play” that is shown using a wooden stage, which we have in the classroom. We read the story called おおきくおおきくおおきくなあれGrow Grow Grow Bigger by Noriko Matsui.
J: Japanese book, right?
K: It’s not like this, right? (gestures like reading a traditional book)
M: Pig needs to be big.
Flowers: Grow, grow, grow!
M: It’s big!
Flowers: Oink! Oink!
E: Maybe also chicken!
J: It’s cracking!
Flowers: Dinosaur!
D: Growl!
M: Cake!
Flowers: Grow, grow, grow!
T: Bigger one!
The book was fun, but short.
J & K: Read it again!
It was fun to read a different kind of book than we usually do! So many amazing things around us are made of paper! What else can we do with paper? Let’s find out tomorrow!
Love,
Flowers
