Red Light, Green Light!

Good afternoon and happy Friday!

We continued working on our awesome self portraits today by using markers once again to illustrate with. The teachers encouraged us to draw a circle on our own to make our head and then add our facial features after. It’s so much fun to see our faces come to life, especially when we made it on our own!

On the back table, we saw so much green! Then when we looked closer, we noticed there was pretend grass all over it! Wow! There were city blocks and mini cars inside a few trays for us to build our own city. Beep! Beep! There were so many shapes and colors to choose from. Some of us loved driving the mini patrol car, the ambulance, firetruck and more! We even loved to feel the soft fabric’s texture and watch how smoothly the cars rolled across it. VROOM!

On the balcony, we added our final paint color by using bubble wrap stamps to stamp tiny circle prints onto the canvas. The latest and final color of the week we chose was pink! We love painting and to watch this special artwork come to life is so exciting for us all!

Once we cleaned up and gathered for circle time, Vieda helped us review what the crossing lights mean and we learned that when it is red, we stop! When the light turns green, we go! To practice the concept, Vieda invited us to practice watching for a crossing signal change! When Vieda held up the crossing light picture of the green man walking, she said “let’s walk, walk, walk!” and we all followed along. When Vieda held up the crossing light picture of the red man, we stopped when she said “stop, stop, stop!”. It was so much fun to practice and a great way for us to understand the proper times to wait and go.

Soon after, we read the story “Can You Moo Too?” by David Wojtowycz. It was about the many animals we know and love, along with the sounds they all make. We all love animals and it was very fun for us to make their sounds in front of the class! Can you moo too? MOOOOOOO!

Before we knew it, Maryna walked in to begin Spin and Shine Class! Today, we danced with scarves to a new song and happily waved them all over. We went on a square hunt and then after we finished and got ready for the park, we heard an earthquake alarm! We followed the teachers’ instructions and got under the table. After the pretend shaking stopped, we put on our safety hats and made our way calmly out the door to safety! What a great earthquake drill practice! Everyone was so brave and did wonderfully!

Thanks for an amazing day everyone and have a great weekend!

Love,
