Career Month: Accountant

April 28, 2026

Happy Tuesday! We were fortunate to have R’s dad M come to our class to teach us about being an accountant. He told us that he keeps track of the money at his company. We shared a bit about what we knew.

R: You think about the money you buy.

E: A wallet is where you put money in.

M gave us a hint about what kind of company he does accounting for by showing us a special paper.

E: Recipe?

S: Money?

E: Medicine?

M works as an accountant for a pharmaceutical company. We began talking about medicine and being sick.

K: If you’re sick you will drink (medicine).

E: If you’re sick, your body needs it.

Why do we get sick?

I: Because of germs.

R: If you have germs and cough, other people get your cough.

We had a question for M.

E: What do you do with the money?

We learned that M sends money to different companies through banks and keeps track of all the money.

Thank you for visiting flowers class and teaching us about another career!

QUESTION OF THE DAY

H: Can you control your body? Can you stop your body?

E: You have to control your feet. You can stop and move.

P: I cannot control my body. I can control myself. My body cant control me.

J: My body is always being silly.

We recalled a discussion we had last year about being strong and not letting your silliness out during circle time.

E: Sometimes my silliness gets too much.

We tried controlling our silliness and sitting still for as long as we could. After a couple of minutes only three friends remained still, R, A, and E. We asked them how they did it.

E: I’m really calm and take a deep breath and get more calm.

R: I just do nothing.

A: On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is silly days.

Just then, S walked in and asked us what we were doing. When we told her we were trying to control our silliness, she taught us a song and dance to get rid of them. It seemed to really work! We felt calm afterwards. S challenged us to keep this calm and quiet feeling for the rest of the day.
