Square Deal

April 8, 2026

Happy Wednesday Buds families!

Today on the front table, we began painting the background of our square murals! To add background color, we used special pattern stamps to stamp on images of bubble, wavy lines and more! We used the colors pink, purple and green to represent spring renewal on them all!

At the back table, we enjoyed solving shape and color puzzles. We love the pinch pin puzzles because they require us to use a pinching motion to pick up and place them into their spots. There was even a latching puzzle that revealed different animals behind small doors. To open them, we also had to use challenging finger movements to undo latches, hooks and buckles! We really like puzzles! Yay!

In the free play area, the awesome magnet toys were attached to the coat rack and ready for us to explore how many we could attach! There were big and small triangles and squares to stick on by hanging. From the top bar. It was lots of fun to see how many we could hang before they fell. Magnets are so mysterious to us as they can stick together but aren’t sticky like glue. They seem like magic!

We have been learning more about squares but we noticed a big red circle on the c\floor to go along with the square shape next to it! Once we cleaned up and settled down for circle time, the teachers applauded our stamp paintings and reminded us that they are in the shape of squares themselves. We counted the sides of a square and learned that there are 4 sides to a square! 1, 2, 3, 4!

Brandon passed out a magnet square to everyone and invited us all to come up to place it onto the big board. We also practiced saying “square” out loud together. Can you say it? SQUARE!

Soon after learning more about squares, we ate our morning snacks and then got ready to go to Step Park! Once we arrived, the teachers encouraged us all to gather up some of the spring things like sakura petals, grass, leaves and more that had fallen to the ground for us to add to our square murals! We can’t wait to see them all finished!

Thanks so much for an awesome day everyone!

Love,

Buds
