What can we find at a grocery store?

March 11, 2026

Happy Wednesday! We are so happy to see the sun is out today. That means we get to go outside.

MORNING ACTIVITIES

At the front table M saw a drawing of an apple and said, “Apple!” and K saw a drawing of a banana and said, “Nana.” They both had a big smile as they colored them in and it was very beautiful. At the next table we had a mix of blue and pink playdough. K and T worked together to make many different size snakes. They even had eyes! They were so kind to share the snakes they made with their friends and teachers. When K and K saw how much fun they were having they joined in to make a snake too.

Our pretend kitchen was busy as always. T, M and Y were all sharing a lovely meal on the bench this morning. K made a delicious salad. Even though our pretend kitchen was busy, we had many friends enjoying their life books and sharing their favorite memories with the teachers.

CIRCLE TIME

Today’s circle time started off by practicing the song and dance for Mother’s Day. We are so excited to see all the moms here next Wednesday for Mom’s Day. Next, we all sang, “Who has come to school today.” We were all using our listening ears and looking eyes to find our names. When we all moved our names to school we counted how many friends were here today. Everyone joined in and counted, “1,2,3…11!” We have 11 friends in Buds today.

This week we have been learning about…

K: Combini
T: Grocery store

Today, we continued our topic of grocery store and what we can find at a grocery store. N had a bucket of different things. Our friend K digged in the bucket and found a monster truck. We asked ourselves, “Can we find monster trucks at the grocery store?” We all shook our heads and said, “No.” Take a look at a few other items some friends found in the bucket.

T: Train
H: Corn
K: Carrot
M: Lemon
T: Lego
R: Apple
S: Egg

We separated the two into two different containers. We learned that we could find eggs, lemon, apple, carrot and corn. We cannot find monster trucks, trains and legos at the grocery store.

We have been having fun exploring all about our neighborhood and diving deeper into grocery stores. We can’t wait to visit the food shop or grocery store soon!

Before we got ready for snack time, we played a little game to prepare ourselves for Mom’s Day. We had a lot of fun playing with the teachers so we look forward to playing with our mommies on Mom’s Day.

STORY TIME

Before nap time we read, “Baby Bear, Baby Bear, What Do You See?” by Bill Martin Jr / Eric Carle. In the beginning baby bear saw a fox. K said, “Kowai,” then T and S joined in and said, “Kowai!” It seems that the fox looked a little scary. Next came a flying squirrel. K spread his arms out and showed us how they fly. We also saw a mountain goat, blue heron, prairie dog, striped skunk, mule deer, rattlesnake and a screeching owl. We all had a great laugh before we got ready to go to sleep.

We had an amazing day in Buds.

Have a great night! See you all tomorrow.

Lots of love,
Buds XOXO
