Happy Tuesday! We had a special guest today and her name was Sh. Do you know who she is? She is Ko’s mom and she came to read Ko’s favorite storybook. We are sad to hear that he is leaving Buds class this term. We will miss you so much, Ko. We’d like to say, “See you around!” than goodbye to our dear friend, Ko. We wish you all the best! At his farewell party, we asked him about some of his favorite things. This is what he shared with us:
Li: What’s your favorite color?
Ko: Ippai suki! Blue!
Question: What’s your favorite toy?
Ko: Senro! (railroad tracks)
Question: What’s your favorite food?
Ko: Dessert!
Question: What’s your favorite song?
Ko: Genkotsu Yama no Tanukisan (a song about Tanuki).
Guess what? Ko and his mom, Sh, taught us his favorite song. Thank you so much for teaching us such a fun song!
MORNING ACTIVITIES
Today’s table activities helped us work on our eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills. On one table, we had two tubs with long strips of tape (non-adhesive sides) where we tried to put as many bear counters as possible. We were giggling as we tried to put the bears on the tape and laughed when they fell into the tub! We found ourselves laughing so hard when we were not expecting them to fall and they did! On the other table, we worked on cutting skills by cutting playdough. Buds’ friends enjoyed cutting the pink playdough into smaller pieces. Ta was so excited about the cutting activity that he said, “Cutting, cutting!” while cutting. N and L said, “Cake!” and requested for little sticks. When they got the sticks, they carefully lined them up on top of their playdough cake and we all sang the birthday song! This activity helped us figure out how to hold the scissors properly while exerting enough force to cut things. Cutting playdough provided us with good material to practice cutting. As we get used to holding our scissors with a good grip, perhaps we can move into cutting construction papers! For floor activities, we explored the kitchen area, especially our desserts! Ro and Sh tirelessly “prepared” and “served” doughnuts and popsicles. It seems like we have great chefs in the making
We also had fun creating things with blocks and playing with dinosaurs.
CIRCLE TIME
We had a short circle time today and focused on the RED and GREEN choices. We reviewed some of the photos that we talked about last week. This time, we thought of the picture carefully whether it was a red or green choice. Then, we took turns sticking a red or green sticker on them. It was such a wonderful learning experience! We hope we will be able to make more green choices as days go by. Let’s do it, Buds!
We hope your day was as fun as ours!
We are looking forward to seeing all of you tomorrow at our winter party!
