Sweet potatoes!

Happy Wednesday everyone! We are very lucky it didn’t rain this morning! We had magnet shapes and numbers to play with on the tables and worked on our “Thank you card” for the Itou-family who hosted the Sweet Potato event! We also had a sensory table with fall leaves and some of the sweet potatoes we dug yesterday!

For our circle time today we started with some songs! Our music assistants were Leo, Aria, Ella, and Momoka! They played their instruments while we sang the song! We didn’t have a calendar helper today so we updated our calendar together!

Nimo: What day is it today? *Pointed at Wednesday*

M: Wednesday! 15!

E: Yes!

Nimo: What’s the weather today?

L: Sunny!

M: It’s cloudy. It’s so cold outside!

Before we talked about sweet potatoes, we quickly reviewed the first letter of our name and how many letters are in our names. We took a quick brain break and danced to “Wheels on the Bus”! We each took an instrument such as a castanet or a shaker then walked around the class as we sang the song!

Laura read us a story, “In Wibbley’s Garden” by Mick Inkpen. It was a flap book with many things hiding under the pictures!

I: Ladybug!

El: I found an orange ladybug in our house.

M: It’s a caterpillar!

Laura: What do you think is under this flowerpot?

E: Um… pie!

A: Where is Pigly?

E: I don’t know *shrugs*

El: Look! There’s Pigly!

L: Big house!

H: A chicken!

We thanked Laura for reading the story, then Nimo asked us some questions about yesterday.

Nimo: What did we do?

M: Potatoes!

Nimo: Did you have fun?

Petals: Yes!

M: My mommy found a buzzy (bug)!

Nimo brought the potatoes in our sensory table.

Nimo: What colors do you see?

I: Purple! Green!

L: Yellow!

El: Brown.

Nimo: What shape do you think it is?

M: Diamond

I: Ice cream!

El: It’s an oval!

Nimo: Is this potato big or small?

E: Big!

H: Hmm… Big!

Esmi: What is that? *Pointed at the thin sweet potato*

L: A worm!

S: Small!

We split up into three groups and in our small groups we carefully examined the potatoes and shared our observations with our teachers!

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a great evening and we will see you again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
