Happy Monday! We’re excited to begin another wonderful week in Flowers class!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
E: Does your skin help you?
We shared some ways we think that our skin helps us.
S: It keeps germs out of your body.
M: When the sun comes, you need sunscreen.
E: If your skin is brown, it doesn’t get sunburn.
We also shared some ways that our skin can get damaged.
S: I fell down like this and cut my hand. Blood was coming out! I couldn’t look at it!
That made us want to share about the ouchies we have on our bodies.
S: I have one too! You can see a little.
R: I found one here too! There was a rock when I walked to the station and I fall down.
J: I fall down. Someone scratched me.
C: I also have. I fall down when I walk home.
S: Just a little one. I fall down at home.
W: Fall down home.
K: I break my bone.
K: Little ouchies. 14!
What can we do if we get a scrape or a cut?
L: Put a bandage on!
We looked at a book that showed the skin up close so we could see how it works. When we looked at our own skin, we could see tiny hairs, which we learned can help keep us warm if it’s cold. We also learned that water comes out of our skin when we get too hot! Finally, we looked at the palms of our hands to see our fingerprints! We looked at the different shapes and described what we saw.
S: Circle
P: Oval
E: Oval
K: Rectangle
E: It’s like a dog shape.
We compared the shape of our fingerprints to our friends’ and grouped them into three groups loop, whorl, and arch. It was interesting to see that our fingerprints, while similar, were all different from each other!
Let’s keep learning about our skin tomorrow!
Love,
