Good afternoon Petals Parents,
We had another fun short day at school! We started our morning doing a free painting activity! We had the three primary colors and a selection of tools to use. We had a lot of fun freely exploring the paint by mixing the paint and using different tools to make various designs! We also played with the play dough and the kitchen toys!
We started our circle time reviewing the classroom rules and practiced walking in the classroom by dancing to “Walking in the Jungle”. Nimo showed us the animal toys and we tried copying how they walked! We started our circle time by doing our Classroom Jobs. I chose the “Class Counter” job and counted his friends.
I: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! 5 friends!
Nimo: Who can tell me how many teachers are here today?
M: 3.
Nimo: 5 friends and 3 teachers. How many all together?
M: 8!
A: Put up eight fingers and started counting them 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9!
We sang our good morning song and did a fun activity with our name plates! First, Nimo showed us some names and we raised our hand if the one he was showing was ours.
I: I’m I! I’m here!
A: A! Pointed at herself
M: That one is L! L is here!
Nimo: Is this K?
S: No! S!
Once we all had our names, we crawled like a crocodile to make our way to the whiteboard on the other side of the classroom to stick our names. Then we walked on our tiptoes like a giraffe to find our name on the whiteboard.
Our story for today was called, “The Magician’s Hat” by Malcom Michell and Joanne Lew-Vreithoff. It was an amazing story about a magician that showed the children how books can take us anywhere, even outer space like our theme for this year!
M: A rocket! Like that one! Pointed at our rocket in Petals Class
I: Stars there!
L: (The magician) Papa janai!
After our story we had a mini gym class and practiced star jumps and balancing on one foot. We played a fun little Choo-choo Train game then got ready to go home!
Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you all again on Monday!
Love,
Petals
