🌏 WA Cambodia Initiative

Ohana International School in Tokyo partners with World Assistance for Cambodia to build a kindergarten as part of an existing primary school, Kirivorn School, in rural Cambodia.

Our goal is to give children the solid start they need to succeed both in the classroom and in life — equipping them with essential skills, new opportunities, and the confidence to pursue their dreams.

With the guidance of experienced educators, we know that early education leads to more engaged parents, better-prepared students, and long-term academic success. This positive start is the foundation we aim to provide for children living in rural Cambodia.

📚 Why We Support Education in Cambodia

We believe deeply in the life-changing value of early education, especially during the most critical years of brain development before age eight.

Providing learning opportunities during this period supports:

  • Cognitive skill development
  • Social-emotional growth
  • Gross and fine motor skill improvement
  • Executive functioning

As parents and educators, we were inspired by the stories of our friend Debbie Krikser-Steele, who works with World Assistance for Cambodia. It made us realize the importance of creating opportunities for children who might otherwise miss out on a strong start in life.

Our Kindergarten Classroom in Cambodia was built under the auspices of World Assistance for Cambodia.

Ohana Learning Tree is a place for preschool-aged children who live in remote rural communities, relatively close to where it was built, and have a school to attend. It is a place of love and learning, and it gives them more opportunities to further their education later.

World Assistance for Cambodia.

Yes, but they must indicate when they donate that it is for the Ohana Learning Tree project if they would like to support our school.

We support the school annually through our fundraising and receive constant updates from people in the organisation with photos.
