Day before Halloween!
Our morning started with us finishing up our Halloween crafts and getting the classroom ready for Halloween! After we cleaned up, we sang “How Are You Today?” and “Obake Nante Nai”, then talked a bit about tomorrow!
S: Skeleton!
I: (Tomorrow is) Halloween!
H: Halloween!
Nimo: What can we see on Halloween?
A: Skeleton!
I: Monster.
L: Ghost! Boo!
I: Mummy!
M: Spider!
We did a quick review of the emotions we learned this week.
H: Happy
M: Sad
H: Angry!
L: Scared!
Today we learned about surprise and disgust. Nimo read us a story called, “Who’s Afraid Of The Big Bad Bogey” by Tom Knight and Timothy Knapman.
Nimo: Should you put your finger in your nose?
Petals: No!
Nimo: Should you eat the bogey?
M: No!
I: Eww!
Nimo: What do we do with the bogey? Wipe it on the floor?
I: Yucky!
Nimo: Throw it away?
H: Yes!
We talked about the yucky feeling as we read the story then used our senses to explore the pumpkin! We used our eyes to check what color and shape the pumpkin was, smelled the pumpkin with our noses, touched it with our hands, and used our ears to listen to the pumpkin.
I: (Shape) Circle!
L: (Color) Orange and here white!
M: (Stem) It’s gray.
A: (Smells) Yucky!
A: (Smells) Yummy!
M: (Feels) Cold!
L: (Feels) Hard.
Nimo: What do you think is inside the pumpkin?
A: Food!
M: Potatoes?
Nimo: Do you think there are spiders inside?
H: No!
L: I want to listen to it one more time *taps the pumpkin*
I: Monster!?
M: Ice cream!
L: Chocolate!
H: Chocolate ice cream!
We opened the pumpkin and used our eyes, nose, and hands to learn more about the pumpkin!
I: *Looks inside* Whoa!!! *Smells the pumpkin* Yummy!
L: *Reaches inside* Seeds!
A: Ewww, I don’t like it.
H: *Smells* Mmmmmm
Together, we will carve a face for our pumpkin tomorrow!
Thank you all for another fabulous day! Please don’t forget your Halloween Costumes!
Love,
Petals
