We had another fabulous day in Petals Class! We started our morning working on our sea animal craft and making tsunami stamps with a sponge! After we packed away our morning toys, we sat down and talked a little bit about coral reefs and tried making our own for our diorama!
We sang Baby Beluga, and Down By The Sea, then talked about some animals that live in the ocean.
Nimo: What animals live in the ocean?
I: Beluga
Ma: Narwhal
Y: Polar Bear?
Ma: No, polar bears don’t live in the ocean
Y: *Pointed at the colorful fish* Blue and white and red.
Nimo: Do you remember what we made?
Ma: Corals!
We looked at a book about Ocean animals.
I: Dolphin!
Nimo: They like to eat fish and squid. Do you like to eat fish and squid?
Ma: Yes!
My: No.
Y: What is this?
I: Whale!
My: A whale is so big!
Ma: Turtle!
I: So many eggs!
Nimo: What animal is this?
My: Seahorse.
I: Seahorse!
Y: Cute!
Ma: Octopus!
Nimo: How many legs?
Petals: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8!
Today, we chose to read the story, “Storm Whale” by Benji Davies. After the story we played with the wave bottle again then we did an experiment with a tub of water to see how the waves help the animals get food.
Nimo: What happens when the wind blows or something moves the water?
Ma: Wiggle wiggle!
My: Waves!
We added little droplets of paint to see how the waves carry the paint to the toy dolphin and whales we had in the tub. The waves in the ocean help distribute food to other parts of the ocean so all the animals can have food. We also tried shaking the tub to make the waves bigger and bigger. We remembered the big waves are called tsunamis!
We joined Buds class for some water play! We loved mixing, pouring, and splashing the water!
Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a wonderful evening and see you for the last day of Summer School!
Love,
Petals
